Will Northview Middle School Renovations Move Forward at Monday's School Board Meeting?
The Ankeny school board is scheduled to meet at 5 p.m. at the district office.
After reviewing plans two weeks ago for proposed renovations to Northview Middle School in Ankeny, the Board of Education is expected to approve contracts to those who will complete the work at tonight's regular meeting.
If approved, contracts will be awarded to SVPA Architects Inc. of West Des Moines and Story Construction of Ames, according to the meeting agenda. The contracts are for a $25 million renovation plan to the former high school.
Regardless of tonight's vote, a bond referendum may still be needed in order for the school district to proceed with the renovation plans to the school. The project would require voter approval so the district could take out the bonds needed to finance the project.
Also on tonight's agenda:
- Recognition of the boys and girls soccer teams, as well as the girls track pentathlon
- Presentation from the district's Bullying/Harassment Task Force
- Changes in board policies
- 2013-14 Executive Summary Handbook Changes
The board will meet at 5 p.m. at the district office, located at 300 S.W. School St.
