Youth Volleyball Begins Next Month
Ankeny kids can now register for the Parks and Recreation program. Practices begin Sept. 4.

Ankeny Parks and Recreation will offer youth volleyball for boys and girls in grades 5-7, said a press release issued by the city of Ankeny Thursday.
All teams will be drawn by a birth date draft. Teams will practice twice per week, once during the week and once on Sunday afternoon or early evening. Team practice begins the week of Sept. 4 and games start on Saturday, Sept. 17 and will run for six weeks. Teams will also learn to officiate, line judge and keep score.
The registration fee is $35 per child for Ankeny residents and $42 per child for non-residents. League t-shirts are required and cost $8 for two t-shirts. These shirts can be worn for several team sports leagues including youth soccer and youth basketball.
