"Annual Juried Student Art Exhibition"

The University of Northern Iowa Gallery of Art and the UNI Department of Art will present the Annual Juried Student Art Exhibition in the Kamerick Art Building (KAB) from March 25 to April 20.

An awards ceremony and reception for the exhibition will be held at 7 p.m., Monday, March 25, in the KAB Auditorium, Room 111.

This competitive exhibition showcases outstanding works of art by students in the UNI Department of Art. The juror for this year's competition is Fred Burton, professor of painting and drawing at Memphis College of Art. The juror will make a selection from approximately 400 entries and will choose a number of merit awards and honorable mentions. A juror's lecture will take place at 6 p.m., Wednesday, March 13, in the KAB Auditorium.

Fred Burton's work has been exhibited nationally and internationally, and he has written art criticism for such noteworthy publications as Art Papers and Number Magazine. In addition, he has completed artist residencies at the Edward Albee Foundation in Montauk, N.Y., the Tyrone Guthrie Center in County Monaghan, Ireland and the Morris Graves Foundation in Loleta, Calif.

All events are free and open to the public. Gallery hours are 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday through Thursday; noon to 5 p.m., Friday and Saturday; and by appointment. The gallery is located on the main floor of the KAB.
