Established in 1974, National Volunteer Week has grown exponentially each year, drawing the support and endorsement of all subsequent U.S. presidents, governors, mayors and other respected elected officials.
Celebrating People in Action, presents an opportunity for individuals, families, nonprofit organizations and government entities alike to celebrate the ordinary people who accomplish extraordinary things through service April 21st – 27th.
National Volunteer Week is about inspiring, recognizing and encouraging people to seek out imaginative ways to engage in their communities. It’s about demonstrating to the nation that by working together, we have the fortitude to meet our challenges and accomplish our goals.
The Volunteer Center of Cedar Valley will host the Mayors’ Volunteer and Top Teen Awards on April 23. The VCCV will also lead youth on Global Youth Service Day on April 26 as they participate in The Garden Project, a collaborative effort between the Volunteer Center of Cedar Valley ISU Extension and Outreach, Boys and Girls Clubs of the Cedar Valley, and Green Iowa AmeriCorps
