The University of Northern Iowa’s Continuing and Distance Education is accepting applications now through April 15 for a Master of Arts in Education degree program in Elementary Education, scheduled to begin Fall 2013. This program, offered entirely online, is designed for PK–6 elementary classroom teachers with licensure in the field of elementary education. Courses address curriculum issues, technology, literacy, mathematics, science, social studies and action research, and are designed using the Quality Matters set of professional standards based upon research, best practices and national standards for course design. This program supports faculty-guided teacher research on relevant issues within your classroom context throughout the course sequence.
The degree consists of 30 units of credit, which can be earned in five consecutive semesters. Courses are taken using a cohort model in which a group of students moves together through a course sequence, with the degree to be awarded in the spring of 2015. All courses included in this program are offered entirely online through eLearning, a Blackboard learning management system requiring Internet access and a web browser.
