Online Environmental Health certificate offers flexibility, convenience

The University of Northern Iowa will offer a certificate program in Environmental Health entirely online, which begins Summer 2013. The program is designed for students and professionals who share interest in the relationships between human health and the environment. The goal of this certificate is to foster a deep understanding of how environmental conditions and protections can impact and enhance human health status. Courses focus on topics such as water quality, solid waste problems, air quality and public health concerns.

The certificate program is offered online using eLearning, a Blackboard learning management system requiring Internet access and a web browser. Campus attendance is not required for this program offering flexibility to access course materials and submit work on a schedule convenient for students. Completion of 15 credit hours is required and may be applied toward either undergraduate or graduate credit.

The Environmental Health Certificate is a valuable addition to a degree or professional credentials. Those who might benefit most from the Environmental Health Certificate include, but are not limited to: Public Health Specialists, Environmental Health Officers, Ecologists, Corporate Health and Safety Personnel, Nurses, Educators and Epidemiologists.
