The second annual Conference on African American Children and Families will be held on Thursday, February 21, 2013- 5:00-9:00 pm (Pre-Conference) in Maucker Union with Gevonee Ford as Keynote Speaker. Dr. Michele Devlin and Dr. Mark Grey of UNI's Health Disparities Office will also share highlights of Iowa's changing demographics and impact on the Child Welfare system and services.
The Conference will be held on Friday, February 22, 2013- 7:30 am-4:00 pm. with several national and local experts on African American culture, families,children, educational issues and needs and especially focused this year on African American males. The event will be held at Schindler Education Center. Keynote speaker is Dr. Marvin Lynn. Author-illustrator, Shane Evans is also one of the featured speakers.
