UNI Study Abroad Center Awarded

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa -- The University of Northern Iowa's Study Abroad Center has been recognized in the national 2012 Open Doors Report. The center was ranked 15^th in the top 40 U.S. institutions for the total number of study abroad students among master's colleges and universities. UNI was also ranked ninth in the nation for participation in short-term study abroad among master's colleges and universities. UNI was the only Iowa public university recognized in this category.

The Open Doors Report, a comprehensive information resource on international student enrollment, is published annually by the Institute of International Education in partnership with the U.S. Department of State's Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs.
The findings of the report will be discussed in a briefing in Washington, D.C. later this year. The briefing will examine key trends, including how economic factors and education policies affect global student mobility.

UNI's Study Abroad Center offers short-term, semester and academic year programs in more than 60 countries. More than 600 students take part in UNI programs abroad each year. For more information, contact Yana Cornish, director of the Study Abroad Center, at 319-273-7078
