UNI Teams with Community Main Street to host Entrepreneurial Camp

Cedar Falls Community Main Street has teamed with the Small Business Development Center at the University of Northern Iowa to host an entrepreneurial camp designed to teach students in grades 4 – 6 methods for starting and running a business.  Students will break into groups to design and create a lemonade stand business in a classroom setting on the UNI campus.  They will also meet with mentoring downtown Cedar Falls retail storeowners as part of the course curriculum. The camp will be held from 8 – 4:30 at the Small Business Development Center March 18 – 19.  A sack lunch and snacks each day will be provided.

On Saturday, March 23 from 10 – 11:30 a.m. groups will have the opportunity to team with their mentor to “run” their business out of a storefront in downtown Cedar Falls. All proceeds raised will be donated to a charity of the student group’s choice. The group that earns the most funds will be featured in the CMS Main Street Record, CMS newsletter and press releases.

Camp size is limited so early registration is recommended. Download registration materials at www.communitymainstreet.org
