Experience Your Power 9® - Plant Slant: Health and Wellness Blog

Did you know that disease-fighting nutrients come from our fresh fruits and vegetables - not meat? Join us tonight at Newton's to experience how those fruits and vegetables can actually taste good!

Experience Your Power 9®: Interactive Series Inspired By Blue Zones Project™. We have learned from Blue Zones Project™ that people who live longer, healthier lives have nine common characteristics, Power 9®. Over nine weeks,
we will celebrate the characteristics we do well and bring each one to life with a short activity.

First we experienced the 80% rule through food sampling at Crossroads Hy-Vee with dietician Stephanie Wharton. Then we brainstormed creating a Right Tribe while assembling dog tags used as an interactive component throughout the
Sullivan Brothers Iowa Veterans Museum. The third week we discovered a fun way to Down Shift through massage at d'vine Medical Spa. We followed that with a different perspective on Community through Tai Chi at the YMCA. After Tai Chi, we experienced Move Naturally through Zumba at Fusion Dance & Fitness. Stay tuned for Loved Ones First at the Youth Pavilion which we will reschedule due to the weather cancellation. Last week we had great fellowship (and wine :)) with Wine at Five at Luna in Cedar Falls. TONIGHT we hope you can join us to experience how plant-based foods can taste good with Plant Slant at Newton’s. According to Blue Zones Project™, most people in the Blue Zones® areas only consume small amounts of meat on rare occasions while eating a rich array of fresh fruits and vegetables, packed with disease-fighting nutrients.

We will continue the rest of the series every Tuesday, 5:30-6:30pm, so join us one or all of the following weeks: 3/26: Know Your Purpose - life coaching activity with Val Bullerman at Cedar Falls Library, TBA - Loved Ones First at the Youth Pavilion. Discover the healthy resources in the Cedar Valley that will help us become a certified Blue Zones Community™ and live longer, healthier lives! *FREE with LIMITED space – please RSVP on Facebook or call Jessica Crouch at 319-504-6689.
