Getting Into Shape: Health and Wellness Blog

It's finally spring! We're all thinking about getting into shape and happily taking that warm outdoor run: tips for getting into shape and outdoor fun.

Cedar Falls Patch said it best: it's finally spring! We're all thinking about getting into shape and happily taking that warm outdoor run. When Cedar Falls Patch encouraged blogs with tips for getting into shape and pictures of outdoor fun, it sounded like the perfect excuse to share this week :).

Everyone has different schedules, abilities, and interests. I find myself so much more willing to exercise (to get in shape) when I pick activities that I like. It seems that since spring arrived, I greatly increased my daily activity including yard work (tons of squats when I pick up sticks and some arm toning as I pull weeds), bike rides with my husband, and walks with friends and family. Healthy eating also contributes to getting into shape, and farmer’s market season definitely helps! I also love my yummy, healthy fast-food that travels well during all those exercise activities and other summer adventures. I noticed that I have not used some of these muscles in a while so I try to pay attention to muscle recovery, including stretching. As I reacclimatize to the warmer weather, I make sure to hydrate often with pure water and replace electrolytes when necessary. Now I just need to remember my SPF for all my outdoor activities (after ~20min in the sun) so I do not start the season with a sunburn :).
