Shopping to make a healthy you and community: Health and Wellness Blog
What if you could earn money for your school (or favorite non-profit) every time you bought the items already on your shopping list?

My shopping list: toothpaste, shampoo, laundry detergent, dish soap, window cleaner, snack bars, breakfast drink, vitamins, SPF, disinfectant wipes, etc.
Does this sound familiar? What if you could earn money for your school (or favorite non-profit) every time you bought one of these kinds of items from your shopping list?
When you or someone you know buys some school supplies from many of your regular stores, we in turn donate a percentage of the purchase price to the school for fundraising (i.e. SCRIP if your school participates in this program). No time limits. No participation requirements. No restrictions.

Bonus: in addition to earnings for a good cause, you can receive savings on several items on your shopping list while creating a safer environment inside and outside of your home when you choose a green store. You do not have children in school? Me neither, yet. What other non-profit in your community (anywhere in the US and beyond) would you like to support that needs funds? Would you consider switching brands to support your community while saving money and sick days for your family?
As a school girl, I sold many things that added pounds to either your house or your body. As an adult, I want to support my friends’ children AND I want to lead a healthy life (does not include most things the children sell). I did not discover SCRIP-type fundraising until I moved to Iowa.

What a concept – children sell nothing and parents buy as normal which helps raise the funds, instead of the children. This also encourages local purchases, which can improve your health (local food usually means fresher food) and the economic health of your community. I wish my schools had discovered this years ago :).
