Tigers Kickoff 5K Trot For Charity: Hi-Line Blog

In an effort to build funds to assist students in need, the Cedar Falls High School student senate has lined up a Tiger Trot for April 28.

Sandra Omari-Boateng

This year Student Senate is hosting its first ever Tiger Trot 5K. The Tiger Trot will be held in George Wyth State Park on Saturday, April 28 at 8 p.m. The Senate hopes this is not only  a fun way to interact with the community but also for a great cause.

The proceeds from the Tiger Trot will be used to help CFHS students who need assistance with meeting basic needs. The proceeds will “adopt” families who need a little more help around the holiday seasons and also help families who have gone through crises.

As if there was any more need to motivate people to come out and participate, there will also be first, second and third place medals given to the first three finishers in both the male and female divisions as prizes.

Registration is $20 anytime before the race day and $30 the day of the race. Checks can be made out to CFHS Student Senate. Registration forms can be found in the guidance office, or registration can be done online at https://secure.getmeregistered.com/CFHSTigerTrot.

T-shirts are available for this trot and will be included in registration fee, but they are not guaranteed by race day after April 28. The packet of things needed for the race is available in the lobby Friday, April 27 from 5 to 7 p.m.

Other than signing up for the trot, another helpful thing to do is donate and try and raise donations from sponsors. Sponsors can make monetary donations to help fund the race, donate door prizes, help promote the race and distribute race packets. Sponsors who give monetary donations or door prizes will receive their logo on the shirts.
