Camping: Health & Wellness Blog

With the arrival of summer and our first camping trip last weekend, I have camping on the brain! As an organizer, I like to start with a list. Actually, I have to give that credit to my friend Tawnya who emailed one years ago J. In addition to the expected regular items, if find it interesting how many relate to health & wellness. Did I miss any items in this category on your list?

The obvious – food! Although some traditional camp food comes nowhere close to healthy, fish, veggies, kabobs, and such make tasty AND healthy camp meals. For the more active parts of camping when I do not have time to cook, I find that nuts and protein bars survive all conditions and keep me fuller, longer. Oh – remember pure water and other healthy forms of hydration, especially if you also pack some dehydrating beverages :). As for non-edibles, consider natural versions of lip balm, sun screen, after-sun lotion, bug repellant, disinfectants, toothpaste, biodegradable soap, etc.
