Cedar Falls Downtown Streetscape Update

The street is tentatively scheduled to open back to traffic the week of August 3.

As part of the Cedar Falls 2020 Downtown Streetscape project, East 3rd Street will be paved and reopened to traffic the week of July 13, 2020. West 3rd Street will have mainline paving scheduled to commence on Wednesday, July 15, 2020 with adjacent paving taking place by the end of the week or early next week. The street is tentatively scheduled to open back to traffic the week of August 3.

3rd Street traffic can continue to detour to either 2nd or 4th via Washington or State Streets during paving.

The public is reminded to use caution if they are in the area as paving commences due to the number of cement trucks that will be working.

About the 2020 Streetscape Project

The City of Cedar Falls partnered with Community Main Street to develop a streetscape plan in order to bring cohesion and walkability to the growing Downtown district. Construction kicked off on March 30, 2020 and includes the replacement of the Downtown Parkade brick and reconstruction of West 3rd and West 2nd Street.
