Cedar Falls N Union Road Construction Information

Beginning Thursday, July 23, 2020, construction will begin on N Union Road between W 1st St and the north city limits. Below is an expected sequence of events:

Storm Sewer Rehabilitation

The roadway will remain open during this process but may be limited to one lane for one to two days.

Asphalt Milling

Beginning Monday, July 27, the roadway will be milled, recycled with a binding agent and laid back in place. The road will remain open during these operations but will be limited to one lane with the use of flaggers and a pilot car (7am – 7pm). The roadway will have both lanes accessible after hours. Please expect delays and plan accordingly. This operation is expected to last 1-2 days.

There will be a period of 7-14 days of no anticipated work while the recycled asphalt base cures out and before the new asphalt overlay is placed. The roadway will remain open during this time.

Asphalt Pavement

During this portion of the work, the roadway will remain open, but limited to one lane. Flaggers and a pilot car will be used. It is anticipated that this work will last 3-4 days.

Weather permitting, this construction process will take approximately four (4) to five (5) weeks until final completion. The roadway will remain open at all times.
