Beginning, Monday, April 6th, 2020, the Iowa DOT’s contractor, PCI, will be starting the next phase of their construction by removing the southern half of pavement on W. 1st Street/HWY 57 between Walnut Street and Catherine Street for underground utility related work. In order for the contractor to begin, a full closure of the southern lanes will be required. East and Westbound head-to-head traffic will be maintained throughout construction.

The lane closure for this phase will be in effect for approximately two months, depending on the weather. For safety’s sake, please stay away from the construction area. Heavy equipment will be moving back and forth on the closed street.
