Fall of the Faculty

FALL OF THE FACULTY AUTHOR TO SPEAK AT UNI


 


Professor Benjamin Ginsberg, author of the widely acclaimed book The Fall of the Faculty: The Rise of the All-Administrative University and Why It Matter will be at the University of Northern Iowa on Thursday, November 29th.  In his book Professor Ginsberg documents the biggest change in higher education in recent years to be the growth of administrative bureaucracy and the concurrent decline in faculty.  Ginsberg has published twenty books and more than 100 scholarly papers on topics ranging from the politics of elections to the powers of the contemporary American presidency.  He is the David Bernstein Professor of Political Science, Director of the Center for the Study of American Government, and Chair of the Government Program of Advanced Academic Programs at Johns Hopkins University.

Professor Ginsberg’s speech will take place at 7:00 p.m., Thursday, November 29th at the University of Northern Iowa Commons Ballroom. His visit is sponsored by the UNI Faculty Senate Speakers Series, UNI-United Faculty, the Iowa Conference of the American Association of University Professors, the UNI Graduate Program in Public Policy, and the UNI Department of Political Science. The event is free and open to the public.
