UNI history professor to present lecture on war and memory
University of Northern Iowa professor Thomas Connors will deliver his lecture, "War and the Landscape of Memory," at 7 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 14, in Seerley Hall, Room 115. The lecture will examine how war monuments have evolved over two centuries, and how complicated historic events are remembered.
"The more difficult memories in our history make for complicated landscapes," said Connors, associate professor of history. "These kinds of stories raise complicated questions in a republic, and how a nation deals with them speaks as much to its present as its past."
