Speaker from Rwanda

Anysie Uwimana from Rwanda will be sharing part of her story before, during and after the genocide in Rwanda on Sunday, June 2, 7:00 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church, 902 Main Street, Cedar Falls.  Anysie is currently on staff with the Presbyterian Church in Rwanda (EPR) in the Health Department as a project finance manager.  During the Genocide beginning in April of 1994 her entire family was killed, but she managed to escape and remain hidden until being rescued in July 1994. She also monitors projects in rural communities aimed at assisting women with low incomes to improve their lives.

Anysie is working on a book, “IF THE HILLS COULD TALK,” which tells her personal story.  But, as she says at the outset, “my story is not an indictment of the horrors that took place in my country, it is my witness to God’s re-creating power in the face of inhumanity and injustice.”   This presentation is free and open to the public.
