Cedar Falls, IA – Friends of Hartman Reserve is hosting its annual Halloween Hikes event the evenings of October 9-11. Guests at this non-scary, fun event will enjoy performances by Hartman staff and volunteers while learning about the “Pollinators”— insects and animals in the Cedar Valley that play a crucial role in flowering plant reproduction and in the production of most fruits and vegetables. Following the hike on a Hartman trail, guests are invited to warm up with treats, hot cocoa, and cider inside the Interpretive Center. At the near-by Buckles Building, there will be face painting, apple-cidering, and a display of this year’s coloring contest entries.

Tickets are $5 each (ages 2 and under free) and will only be sold in advance at Hartman Reserve Nature Center. Hikes will leave every 15 minutes from 6:00 PM - 7:30 PM. Youth groups are welcomed. Proceeds from the event go to support Hartman Reserve Nature Center and environmental education programs in the Cedar Valley.
