Every year children receive a supply list from school, yet we need to remember some of the most important supplies to support a successful, healthy school year. Do we get enough sleep each night? What space do you have in your house conducive to homework and quiet time? Do your children have a balance of after-school activities and free time? (I could ask myself the same question :)). Where does exercise fit in that after-school time? So much to consider, and we have not even started discussing nutrition.
Whether you want a healthy school year, work year, summer, or any other time of life, I have found several nutritional components that give us a much better chance. I like to start my day with a protein packed breakfast. Remember – plant-slant eating habits will help us get the nutrients provided by fruits and veggies (which also go well with breakfast). A quality multivitamin can help us fill the gaps and provide our body with fuel to keep us running at optimum. If you want to take that a step further, add some DHA for more brain power! Since kids tend to share everything, including germs, a little extra immune support and a non-toxic disinfectant can provide another layer of protection. Hopefully these ideas have started you thinking about the small steps you can take to make a big difference in the health of you and your family.
