High-Wind Advisory Issued for Cedar Falls Area; Strong Thunderstorms Possible

The National Weather Service has issued a strong-wind advisory for Cedar Falls and the surrounding area and warned that strong thunderstorms are likely.
The weather service says showers and strong thunderstorms could hit the area at least through 1 p.m. today.Â
Sustained winds of up to 32 mph are expected out of the south, with gusts as high as 45 mph.Â

The chance of rain was put at 70 percent. Thunderstorms are likely mainly before 7 p.m., the weather service said.Â
