New Poll Says Iowans Think Branstad Has Served Long Enough - Do You Agree? Iowa Patch Poll

Iowa Gov. Terry Branstad remains popular with Iowans, according to a new poll, but many of those same voters also think he has served long enough.

The majority of Iowans like the governor - he has a 51 to 33 percent job approval rating, according to a a Quinnipiac University poll released Friday. But 54 percent of voters said they don’t think he deserves a sixth four-year term.

Asked if Branstad “deserves to be re-elected,” 46 percent said yes, while 43 percent said no.

The poll was of 1,256 registered voters with a margin of error of plus or minus 2.8 percentage points.

Branstad has been in office, on-and-off, for a combined 19 years. He has not officially announced a desire to run for another term, but he has hired campaign staffers and has more than $2 million in his campaign treasury.
