Noted Catholic theologian James Alison and Protestant leader Brian McLaren will give a lecture that is free and open to the public, titled: "Exploring the new paradigm: Girard and the Christianity of the 21st Century." They will discuss together the ways in which René Girard's insight into desire and violence has provided a new basic paradigm for Christianity in the 21st Century. Both will explore some of the differences which Girard makes to how Christians read the Bible, how they might live the reality of Church, and what sort of worldwide networks Christians might find themselves getting involved in as this understanding of Christianity takes wing. The event is sponsored by The Raven Foundation in conjunction with the meeting of the Colloquium on Violence and Religion.
