Eastern Iowan Government carried a story about an Eastern Iowa National Guard soldier, Specialist Aaron McNew of Cedar Falls. In October, McNew and two other members of the Iowa National Guard’s Second Brigade Combat Team, 34th Infantry Division, were honored in the U-S Army’s greatest innovative competition for remodeling a piece of heavy equipment, making an ammunition pack easier to carry and use, likely saving lives. Congratulations to McNew!

Why Grow Up? An Exhibition of the Art of Etienne Delessert, continues at the through Jan. 5. The paintings are whimsical examiniations of childhood imagination, with characters including the Big Bad Wolf and Humpty Dumpty mixing with Delessert's own creations with names like Spartacus the Spider. Children and adults alike should enjoy this show.
Free Music!:
The Cedar Falls Public Library announced they will start offering a free downloadable music service from Freegal Music, with access to the Sony music catalogue, in the new year. Just another reason to keep supporting your local library!

The Waterloo-Cedar Falls Courier had a great article on the Waterloo Jaycees helping 90 area kids buy holiday gifts for their families. The Jaycees have Patch's admiration.
