Report: Feds Want Wasendorf Car That's Decorated with UNI Panther Logo

The Black Hawk County Sheriff's Office is holding a vehicle decorated with University of Northern Iowa's Panther logo for the FBI.

The report comes from the Cedar Rapids Gazette, but the newspaper does not specify the source of the information.

The vehicle, a silver 2001 Chevrolet Cavalier convertible that was "pantherized", was seized as part of the investigation into at Peregrine Financial Group and its CEO and founder, Russell Wasendorf Sr., the Gazette reports. 

Wasendorf, a UNI supporter, won the vehicle at a charity auction in the spring. It was the same vehicle that Wasendorf used to attempt to commit suicide by running a hose from the tailpipe into the vehicle.

Wasendorf survived and was arrested on July 13 but now is in jail facing a federal trial. In a suicide note, Wasendorf .

A Reuters article suggests that despite the the millions of dollars that went missing, Wasendorf had few luxuries other than a pool and now this car, which he paid $9,000 for, according to the Gazette.
