UNI students and the Cedar valley community will get a taste of Latino culture at the first UNI Latino Fest, which will be held from to 7 p.m., Friday, Sept. 27, at Lawther Field. The event, which is being hosted by UNI's Hispanic Latino Student Union (HLSU) and Art for El Salvador, will feature authentic Latin American food, live performances and an art sale by Art for El Salvador.
"This event will give UNI students an opportunity to learn more about the Hispanic culture in an informal festival setting," said Walter Abrego, director of public relations for HLSU. "This event will not only increase awareness of Latin culture at UNI, it will also help make Latin American, Hispanic and Latino students around campus feel welcome."
The event will feature live music by Latin American music duo Calle Sur, Zumba, children's activities and a dance.
