Waterloo Man Admits He Lied To Feds When Applying for Pilot's License

The 33-year-old faces up to 5 years in prison.

A Waterloo man has pled guilty to lying to federal authorities.

Authorities say Fahad Nabeel Hussein Al-Daous, 33, applied for an instrument-rated pilot's license last year, but lied about the number of hours he'd spent training. He apparently overstated his flying experience by as many as 130 hours, according to a press release from the U.S. Department of Justice.

Last week, Al-Daous pled guilty to making false statements to the Federal Aviation Administration.
