Second Woman Convicted in 2025 Charles City Child Endangerment Case – 95.1 The Bull (951thebull.com) — A Charles City woman has been convicted on two felony child endangerment charges, becoming the second person found guilty in a 2025 abuse case involving two children. A Floyd County jury recently convicted Ariana Henigan, who is now seeking a new trial and alleging her defense attorney failed to fully use evidence she believes could have helped her case.
3. Floyd County Medical Center Groundbreaking Thursday (Oct. 1)for Phase II of Hospital Expansion (kchanews.com) — Charles City residents can see the next big step in local healthcare today when Floyd County Medical Center breaks ground at 4 p.m. on Phase II of its hospital expansion. The project will add new operating rooms, a cafeteria, and support areas, backed by a major USDA loan and local financing, with completion targeted around 2028–2029.
4. Ceremony Thursday (Oct. 1) for Charles City Designation as Home Base Iowa Community (kchanews.com) — Charles City residents are invited to a 10 a.m. ceremony at City Hall today recognizing the community's new Home Base Iowa designation, which supports veterans moving here. Local leaders and state program officials will speak, and Floyd County's existing $10,000 zero-interest veteran home loan program will be highlighted as part of broader efforts to attract and retain service members.
5. Winners Announced at the 2026 NIACC Pappajohn Entrepreneur Gala (niacc.edu) — Several Charles City businesses and entrepreneurs were in the spotlight at NIACC's 2026 Pappajohn Entrepreneur Gala, with local firms like Mike Molstead Motors, Otto's Oasis, Churasan, and L&J Industries named as award finalists.
