• Detention Youth Counselor PRN (scottcountyiowa.gov subscription) — Scott County is hiring a part-time Detention Youth Counselor in Davenport, working directly with residents at the Juvenile Detention Center to support behavior change and daily routines. The role pays $26.08 per hour, involves close supervision, counseling, safety checks, and meal preparation, and requires related education plus youth justice experience and several certifications within six months.
• Davenport City Council approves nearly $400K settlement with former assistant city attorney in 6-5 vote (wqad.com) — Davenport residents should know the City Council narrowly approved a $397,500 settlement with former assistant city attorney Mallory Bagby after her civil rights lawsuit, bringing recent legal payouts to about $2.3 million. The city denies wrongdoing, but the 6-5 vote followed public criticism from residents who urged leaders to fight the case in court instead of using taxpayer dollars for another settlement.
• QCA pushes to build out bike trail system (ourquadcities.com) — Trail planners and advocates across the Quad Cities are working to better connect bike paths into neighborhoods and neighboring towns, including tying routes into Davenport's growing trail investments. Officials say these upgrades will make it easier and safer to ride from home to trails, boost economic development, and reduce crashes by separating bikes and pedestrians from vehicle traffic.
