1. DSM Labor Day Parade draws crowds despite rain (who13.com) — Crowds still filled downtown Des Moines streets Monday morning for the annual Labor Day Parade, even with steady rain. Marching union members, local workers, and American-made vehicles traveled from the Capitol toward the State Fairgrounds, then families headed to Union Labor Park for food and entertainment, turning the soggy holiday into a big community gathering.
2. 'Nobody puts Buc-ee's in the corner!' Petition to secure location for West Des Moines (who13.com) — West Des Moines leaders are launching a public petition to lure a Buc-ee's travel center after Urbandale rejected the chain's proposal.
