Proposed DMPS attendance boundary plans could shift where students go to school (who13.com) — Des Moines Public Schools is weighing new attendance boundary plans that could change which schools many neighborhood children attend starting in 2028–29, while promising a "legacy" provision so current students can stay put until they naturally move up. Families can ask questions and give feedback at upcoming Reimagining Education meetings this week and next at Weeks and Goodrell middle schools.

Enrollment for these specialized programs will begin this spring, with the district promising equitable access while keeping core subjects consistent across all Des Moines schools.

Perry Woman Faces Federal Charges for Conspiracy to Distribute Methamphetamine (raccoonvalleyradio.com) — Federal and state investigators have tied Des Moines and Marshalltown locations to a meth trafficking probe that led to 14 people facing charges, including a Perry woman accused of conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine. Recent search warrants in Des Moines seized cash, firearms, and phones, and several defendants have already appeared in federal court with a trial set for November 30.

Expert: Three major steps parents should take to protect children on social media (who13.com) — After a missing 17-year-old Des Moines girl was found in Virginia with a man she met on TikTok, a social media safety expert is urging local parents to act.
