Newly Constructed Wetland Adds Water Quality Benefits to Flood Management Basin (dsm.city) — A major stormwater upgrade in south-central Des Moines has transformed the Jackson Dry Detention Basin into the state's largest stormwater wetland, already improving water quality after recent historic rains. Once native vegetation is planted, neighbors will gain a new nature-focused amenity, and homeowners citywide can tap a reimbursement program covering up to half the cost of approved water-quality projects on their own properties.

Des Moines Children's Museum must leave Valley West Mall by end of October (kcci.com) — Families who love the Des Moines Children's Museum should know it must leave Valley West Mall by the end of October and is asking for volunteers, storage help, and donations to manage the move. The museum plans to stay open through October 24 and then shift to a temporary space while its larger permanent home in West Des Moines is finished for next year.

Popular comedian bringing latest tour to Des Moines (who13.com) — Tom Segura is bringing his new "Preposterous" stand-up tour to the Des Moines Civic Center on Friday, January 15, 2027, with tickets already on sale at DMPA.org. The popular comedian, podcaster, and actor is known for his Netflix specials and bestselling book, and this show is part of the Des Moines Performing Arts Comedy at the Civic Center series.
4.
