City Of Des Moines: Notice Of Public Hearing For Proposed Property Tax Levy

The City Council will conduct a public hearing on the proposed fiscal year 2023 City of Des Moines property tax levy on Monday, February 7, 2022 at 5 p.m. at City Hall (400 Robert D. Ray Drive).

At the public hearing any resident or taxpayer may present objections to, or arguments in favor of the proposed tax levy. After adoption of the proposed tax levy, the City Council will publish notice and hold a hearing on the proposed city budget.

With the proposed tax rate, the fiscal year 2023 rate would remain at $16.61 per $1,000 of taxable property value. If approved, this would continue the trend of reduced property tax rates since the Local Option Sales & Services Tax was approved in March 2019.

The City Council shall receive written objections or arguments in favor of the proposed tax levy from any resident or property owner of the City to the proposed property tax levy that are received by the City Clerk prior to 4:00 p.m. February 7, 2022 (City Clerk’s Office, Des Moines City Hall, 400 Robert D.
