Here are the top stories today in Des Moines:
- Polk County authorities identified 77-year-old Jack Waters, of Des Moines, as the pedestrian killed in a crash on Thursday night. Police say a Chevy Tahoe hit Waters when he was walking across Northeast 14th Street. The driver of the Tahoe stopped after the crash and is cooperating with authorities. (KCRG)
- Des Moines Public Works says plow teams were out Friday night with salt spreaders to prepare for the winter storm. The storm arrived on Saturday, and the city sent out 100 pieces of equipment and will continuously work on snow routes. (KCCI Des Moines)
- On Sunday, a snow ordinance was in effect in Des Moines and the suburbs. Central Iowans are being asked to take their cars off the snow route streets, and not following the ordinance could result in a fine or towed vehicle. (KCCI Des Moines)
