Free Street Parking On Wednesdays For East Village Promenade In Des Moines

The City will reprogram 518 meters in the Historic East Village for residents attending the 19th annual Promenade.

DES MOINES, IOWA – December 15, 2020 – As the 2020 Promenade is underway, the City of Des Moines is opening up free parking on Wednesday evenings in the Historic East Village. The City will reprogram 518 meters in the Historic East Village for residents attending the 19th annual Promenade.

“We’re very excited to open up these free parking spaces during the holiday season and increase access to our East Village shops, restaurants and amenities,” said City Engineer Steve Naber. “The holidays are a wonderful time to showcase our City and we hope everyone can experience what the Historic East Village has to offer.”

The Historic East Village provides a mixture of holiday lights, attractions like the Brenton Skating Plaza as well as shops and restaurants during the Promenade. The dates of the free parking will be Wednesday, December 16, 2020 and Wednesday, December 23, 2020 between the hours of 4:30 pm and 9:00 pm.
