Iowa Governor Announces National Science Camp Scholarships
High school seniors who are selected will take part in hands-on research, an overnight camp and a visit to Washington, D.C., with peers.

From the Iowa Governor's Office: Gov. Kim Reynolds announced Thursday the opportunity for two Iowa high school seniors to receive full scholarships to attend the 2018 National Youth Science Camp (NYSCamp) this summer in West Virginia. The students will exchange ideas with scientists and other professionals from the academic, corporate and government worlds during the nearly month-long experience.
The camp includes lectures and hands-on research projects presented by scientists from across the nation; overnight camping trips into the Monongahela National Forest; and a visit to Washington, D.C. The selected delegates must not only demonstrate academic achievement in science, but also show potential for thoughtful scientific leadership.
The month-long camp is geared to students who plan to pursue higher education and careers in science, technology, engineering or math related fields. It will include two participants from every state and Washington, D.C., along with two students each from Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Mexico and Trinidad and Tobago.

Delegates arrive in Charleston, W.Va., on June 27 and depart on July 21. The NYSCamp is held near Bartow in the eastern mountains of West Virginia.
