DES MOINES, IOWA – Friday, January 29, 2021 – City of Des Moines Deputy Public Works crews are keeping a close eye on this weekend's weather as the sequence of rain, freezing rain and snow could be the recipe for tricky travel conditions.
"The snow routes have plenty of salt on them already and should be alright, but as the snow starts and the layers of rain freeze below it, we could see pretty slick conditions," Deputy Public Works Director Adam Smith said. "Be careful to keep an eye on conditions before you drive, especially as Saturday goes on."
Public Works crews are prepared with spreaders on standby to help early in the day and plows ready to begin snow removal as soon as it begins to accumulate on Des Moines roadways.
