Scrub And Mega Scrub Events Coming Up This Weekend In Des Moines

This weekend's events will take place on Saturday at the following locations and times.

The City of Des Moines is providing residents a free opportunity this Saturday, July 18, to dispose of storm debris from their yards following severe weather earlier this week. This service is part of the City’s Spring Cleanup to Reduce Urban Blight (SCRUB) events for debris drop off.

This weekend’s events will take place on Saturday at the following locations and times:

  • MWA Transfer Station (4198 Delaware Ave) from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m.
  • MWA Compost Center (1601 Harriett St) from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m.
  • MEGA SCRUB: Polk County River Place (2309 Euclid Avenue) from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Before attending, please review the SCRUB guidelines that detail what can be delivered to each location at DSM.city/SCRUB. We also ask that residents who utilize this free service, follow these precautions in order to stay safe and healthy during the COVID-19 pandemic:

  • When you arrive, please keep your vehicle windows rolled up and press your ID against the window for residency confirmation
  • Our Public Works employees will be wearing PPE. We ask you to thoughtfully consider returning the favor by wearing a mask and/or gloves as well
  • Maintain a six-foot distance from others
