Slick City Action Park To Bring High-Energy Indoor Entertainment Experience To West Des Moines This Summer

DES MOINES, IOWA – Slick City Action Park, the world’s first indoor dry-slide and air court park for all ages, is bringing its signature all-ages entertainment experience to Iowa with a new location set to open in West Des Moines mid-summer. Located at 9999 University Ave, the more than 33,000-square-foot indoor park will introduce a first-of-its-kind active entertainment destination designed to bring friends, families, groups, coworkers and community members together through high-energy attractions and immersive play experiences.

Locally owned by longtime friends and neighbors Ashley Poolman, Isaac Poolman, Joe Hammond and Emily Hammond, Slick City West Des Moines represents a passion project rooted in community connection and family entertainment. What began as casual conversations between neighbors eventually evolved into a shared vision to bring an innovative attraction concept to the Des Moines area.

“We couldn’t stop smiling after experiencing Slick City for the first time. We immediately knew this was something Des Moines needed,” said Joe Hammond, co-owner of Slick City West Des Moines. “The energy, the excitement and the way people of all ages interacted together immediately stood out to us. Bringing that experience to Des Moines felt like an opportunity to create something truly special for the community.”

Slick City West Des Moines will feature thirteen signature slides, including Big Wave, Mega Launch, Tailspin, Royal Flush and Riptide. Beyond the slides, guests will also enjoy interactive attractions including a Sport Court, Dodgeball Court, Trapeze experience, Arcade and ZipRail attraction, creating a fully immersive indoor entertainment experience for guests of all ages. The location will also include attractions designed specifically for younger guests, including a dedicated Little Kids Air Court, 3-story soft play area and net course.

Designed intentionally through the lens of guest experience and group connectivity, the park will also feature an expansive 3,000-square-foot mezzanine overlooking the attractions below. The elevated viewing space was specifically created to improve visibility throughout the park and allow parents and caregivers to remain connected to the experience while easily monitoring activity across the facility.

“You can lose sight of kids pretty quickly at some entertainment venues, and we wanted to approach this differently,” Hammond said. “We designed the park so parents can easily keep an eye on younger guests while still creating a comfortable gathering space for groups, celebrations and events.”

The park is expected to serve as a year-round destination for birthday parties, family outings, team celebrations, school groups, corporate events, adult socials and community events. Additional details surrounding attractions, memberships and grand opening festivities will be announced in the coming months.
