Administrative Delays May Cost the District $600-$800 in Postage

At a time when administration should be doing everything in its power to bolster the morale of teachers and staff, they again miss no opportunity to incur unnecessary expense. Instead of sending out returning staff’s contracts by district mail while school was still in session, the district will now have to pay postage on each individual contract mailed out. And what message does this actually send?  I think what the administration is saying, in effect, is, “We don’t care about money. And we don’t care if you wait to receive your contract.”

The contract’s already been approved. There’s absolutely no excuse for contracts not going out in a timely way to teachers and staff before they left the buildings. That would have shown some appreciation and respect. It seems administration relishes its ability to keep people in the dark to the very end, taxpayers, teachers, and staff alike. At a time when dollars have to be stretched, this $600-$800 for postage is vulgar and obscene.

If the district waits until two days after school starts in August to give teachers and staff their contracts, that would be even more demoralizing and equally unnecessary.
