Iowa City Police report the damage estimate, alleged messages through a third party, and potential jail time if he's convicted on all charges.
2. CenturyLink copper land line service to end in 20 Iowa communities (ottumwaradio.com) — CenturyLink's parent company Lumen Technologies plans to shut down copper land line service in the Iowa City area and 19 other Iowa communities on October 18, pushing remaining customers toward internet-based phone service. Some Iowans say they didn't get the 90 days' notice federal rules require for retiring analog lines. If you still rely on a traditional land line, you may need to switch soon.
3. UIHC opens new family medicine clinic in fast-growing Tiffin, cites need to keep doctors in Iowa (kcrg.com) — Residents near Iowa City now have another option for primary care, with University of Iowa Health Care opening a new family medicine clinic in fast-growing Tiffin just 15 minutes from campus and downtown. The clinic aims to serve Clear Creek Amana students, local workers, and about 10,000 patients while helping keep more family doctors practicing in Iowa.
4. October is National Cider Month and Iowa has plenty to celebrate (kimt.com) — Iowa City cider fans are part of a statewide celebration as National Cider Month highlights local cideries, including Wilson's Orchard's Iowa City location. The piece explains how craft cider supports Iowa agriculture, tourism, and small-town economies, and notes that cider has grown into a billion-dollar industry with its own national competition categories.
