Join us for free screening and panel for "Woke Up Black," Oct. 23, 2014, 6:30 p.m., 100 Phillips Hall. Event is free & open to public!

On Thursday, October 23, the UI Public Policy Center will be hosting a second screening and discussion panel of the documentary Woke Up Black. This documentary follows five black youth ages 16-21, over the course of two years, capturing both day-to-day life events, interactions with the justice system, and major milestones. The film focuses on the youths’ ideas and opinions in their own words, and underscores the humanity that we all share regardless of race or age.

Following the screening, we will hold a panel discussion about the film with Producer Mary Morten and two of the film’s subjects - Morgan Price and Carter Tindell-Hall.

The event is free and open to the public, seats first come, first served.  Doors will open at 6:00 p.m.
