A California man is accused of setting off several M-90 fireworks in the alley between buildings at 211 Iowa Avenue, near the Pedestrian Mall, according to an Iowa City Police Department criminal complaint. The officer who wrote the complaint noted that there were a number of people walking by at the time, plus "two full-size vans and equipment" next to where the fireworks were lit.
The man who allegedly lit the fireworks, Drew Edmunson Soria, 24, hails from the town of Laguna Niguel, a wealthy community in Orange County, California. Soria allegedly admitted to the officer following questioning that he did light the fireworks.
