Check out these Cool Farmers Market Pennants Made By Local Patrons

In honor of the Iowa City Farmers Market, pennants have been hung in the Chauncey Swan Ramp, many of them colorful works by local children.

Here are few photos I snapped yesterday afternoon. If you have some photos add them to our gallery.

Info on the project from a City Media Release:

Visitors to upcoming Farmer's Markets will now have even more than fresh-from-the-farm produce, homemade baked goods, and crafts to look at, following the installation earlier this week of a special public art project commemorating the market's 40-year anniversary.

Almost 100 pennants, featuring colorful fruits, vegetables, and other Farmer's Market-inspired themes, were hung earlier this week on the west side of . The pennants were painted by market patrons last month -- many of whom were children -- using art templates designed by students from the Iowa City Summer of Solutions program. The program encourages local youth to undertake projects and initiatives to improve their community.

The pennants will remain on display throughout the remainder of the Farmer's Market season.

The project was sponsored by the City of Iowa City Public Art Program and the Iowa City Farmer's Market.
