Boredom is what caused me to change the channel from CNN. CNN chose to exclusively cover the tragic disappearance of Flight 370 from Malaysia for weeks despite the fact that they had no new information. The circular footage of debris of unknown origin in the Indian Ocean excluded known news occurring in the rest of the world. So speculative, exhaustingly tragic and unresolved news excluded factual news in places like Ukraine.
Then came the jaw-dropping news from Amber Lyon, a former CNN investigative reporter, that CNN was taking money from the Obama administration to control content. Further, CNN was taking money from foreign countries to not cover newsworthy stories that cast those countries' governments in a bad light.
For example, peaceful protesters were arrested, shot, tortured, and made to disappear (executed?) in Bahrain. Amber Lyon had the video footage, but CNN never put the video or the story on the air.
I hope you will join me in my boycott of CNN News. CNN is not just boring; it's apparently meant to be boring.
On the "Daily Show," Jon Stewart has ridiculed CNN's nonstop, not terribly informative coverage of Malaysian Flight 370 in wonderfully comic fashion, but Wolf Blitzer continues to drone on about it. Stewart does a good job, but he's had about as much impact on the stultifying CNN coverage as he's had on the prevarications, drama, and victimization of the Right script on Fox News.
