Deceased Identified In Suspicious Death Investigation In Iowa City

Update: The deceased in the suspicious deaths investigation that began on Tuesday, Sept. 15, 2020, have been identified as Latoya Patrice Smith, 45, of 86 Aniston St. in Iowa City and Floyd Lowell Rush, 49, also of 86 Aniston St. Police believe this is an isolated event and remains under active investigation. No further information will be released at this time.

On Tuesday, Sept. 15, 2020, at about 8:35 p.m., emergency responders were dispatched to the 100 block of Aniston Street, in Iowa City, for a report of an unconscious female in the residence. Upon their arrival, a deceased adult female and a deceased adult male were found inside the residence.

The deaths are being treated as suspicious and are under investigation by the Iowa City Police Department, Johnson County Attorney’s Office, and Johnson County Medical Examiner’s Office. The names of the deceased are not yet being released, pending appropriate notifications.

No further information will be released at this time.
