Democrat Rob Sand Won the Auditor's Race! He Beat the Incumbent
I heard Rob Sand speak and donated to his campaign. I'm thrilled he beat the Republican incumbent, Mary Mosiman, who didn't do her job.

Democrat Rob Sand, a former assistant attorney general in AG Tom Miller's office, won the state Auditor's race. He beat the incumbent Republican, Mary Mosiman, who wasn't doing her job and let hundreds of thousands of dollars get mismanaged and embezzled because she wasn't exercising proper oversight and didn't attend meetings she should have.
I heard Rob Sand speak at a meeting in Altoona. Although he's in his mid-thirties, he looks like he's 17. However, when he began speaking I was very impressed. He has successfully investigated and prosecuted corruption on both sides of the aisle. He's an equal opportunity prosecutor. He prosecuted the film tax break scam when former Gov. Chet Culver (D) was in office. Rob Sand prosecuted the $25 million lottery scam that fixed seven lottos in five states. He also prosecuted a con artist ripping off people in Kossuth County. The con artist in in prison now.

He's prosecuted Republicans who've committed corrupt acts as well, and I expect his talents to come in handy now that Republican Gov. Kim Reynolds has secured her hold over the governor's office.
"The state auditor's office has 30 CPAs. What the auditor's office needs is a criminal prosecutor," Rob said. "Mary Mosiman attended fewer Iowa Communications Network (ICN) oversight meetings than anyone. She asked a total of three questions when she did come. The ICN's executive director, Ric Lumbard, was also full time at Wind and Fire Ministries. He paid a woman at his church to be his secretary, bumped up her salary, and took her with him to Belize without claiming that he'd taken any vacation time on payroll. His double duty at two full-time jobs was on the front page of the Des Moines Register. Lumbard misspent nearly $380,000. How did Mary Mosiman miss this?

"I'm running because we need to wake up the watchdog. The state auditor is supposed to be our watchdog. There's a watchdog icon on the state auditor's office website."
We've got our watchdog now in state Auditor Rob Sand. I have no doubt he will be busy in his new job, just as he was busy as assistant attorney general.
