Dora “Dode” Viola Morgan, 94, of Coralville, passed away peacefully, shortly before midnight, on December 26, 2013 at Country View Residential Living in North Liberty.

A memorial service to celebrate Dode’s life will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, January 2nd at Lensing’s Oak Hill, 210 Holiday Road in Coralville. The family will greet friends from 9:30 am until service time. Burial will be held at the Oxford Cemetery.

Dora was born on March 17, 1919 in Boone, Iowa, the daughter of Charles and Marie (Rose) Dewey. Dora, along with her family, later moved to the Oxford, Iowa area where she spent the majority of her years. She was a graduate of Cosgrove High School. On November 2, 1938, Dora married Virgil “Jack” Morgan in Iowa City -- he later died on May 30, 2002.

Dode was a wonderful lady! She was a caring mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. She enjoyed all types of arts and crafts, “visiting” casinos and playing the penny slots. Most importantly, she loved spending time with her family. She will be dearly missed.

Survivors include her daughters: Marcy Villhauer (Lou) of Iowa City, Jackie Mossman (Michael) of Mesa, Arizona, Debby Houlton (Dan) of Phoenix, Arizona, and Sheryl “Sherry” Morgan (David Huston) of Coralville; a brother Jerry Dewey of Iowa City, ten grandchildren: Shelly, Brett, Michelle, Tammy, Nathan, Jamie, Josh, Amber, Breon and Lindsey; fourteen great-grandchildren: Kyle, Austin, Stephanie, Weston, Jessica, Ashley, Anna, Shelby, Bree, Blake, Breckyn, Aiden, McKenna and Veronica; and three great-great-grandchildren: Kylie, Jackson and Jaxen.

Dode was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a brother Charles Dewey, a half-brother Ralph Dewey, a sister Bonnie Newton, and a son Gary Morgan.

The family would like to offer their sincere appreciation to the staff of Country View for their kind and compassionate care.
